So we decided to get out and be “Tourists” in our own little “Vacationland” Yesterday. Started out by popping down to Savannahs River Street to have a late lunch at Joes Crab Shack on the river. We sat outside and waved at the various boats full of happy Tourists and locals. We enjoyed or various seafood plates and got fun drinks in fun souvenir glasses.
The weather was really in our favor. It was overcast but not Gloomy. It could have been bright, sunny, and a heat index of over 120F! So the 92F wasn’t that bad!
I’m not exactly sure what I was doing that was funny…other than just being old and adorkable.
We walked down to Wet Willies and got small drinks (Like spiked slushies’ or slurries) to walk around with. Mark got a standard Pina colada. I tried the mango. His tasted nice, mine tasted like apricot baby food. Jayda (Our kid) asked how I knew what baby food tastes like. Well, I have had three babies! And I would always taste the baby food before I fed it to them! Is that weird? It didn’t seem weird to me. I digress…
Made our way up some scary stairs back to our truck “Big Blue” and headed back to Beaufort County.
We totally totally forgot all of the actual tourests come in on Saturday afternoons. *Head Smack* So getting on the island “Hilton Head” was Stupid. After about ten minutes of road rage, we get to the shopping center where the theater is.
North Ridge Theater is in a Shopping complex that is aproximately 20 years old. Its under some established Oak, Palms, and Crape Myrtles.
Some of the reviews reguarding the aestetics for this theater and/or shopping center are on the negative side. But let me offer you this viewpoint. This is an Older Shopping Center on an Island in the Low Country. We may not have hurricanes every year, but we get some pretty monsterous rain and tropical storms. Flooding, Heat, Wind. When you drive in and look at the trees and parking lot, through the eyes of recogition, that this Shopping complex has survived, #1Tourist Seasons #2Hurricane Seasons #3Flood Seasons #4and many many summer days that are as hot as the Devils Toenails…surely you can appreciate its endurance!
So, it’s not the newest! Who Cares! I think it’s charming. I can appreciate the wood siding and being tucked back and away from the insanity of the main drag!
So, we park and Go in. Right off the bat we see that the ticket office has turned into a self service kiosk. I know there are a LOT of “Self service haters” out there. Not everyone can see the benefits of this. If you have ever owned a business or even MANAGED a business you understand that there is no such thing as making everyone happy. There is no true “One size fits all” and there are always going to be complainers. In this Bloggers opinion, the Self Service Kiosk was great, easy, and efficient. It was as easy as…I walked up, clicked on the movie “The Incredibles 2” and the number of tickets. I was taken to a screen that then let me choose what seating we wanted. I clicked the three seats, swiped our credit card, recipts were spit out and That was That.
Did I mention we had never been to this movie theater…EVEN THO WE LIVE HERE?!?!? Crazy, I know!
So I’m looking around, Kid runs to the loo, and Mark says “Look!”
They have a Beer and Wine Bar in the movie theater! We start laughing and make a beeline to find out the 411.
A nice lady follows in behind us and runs behind the bar. So we start asking questions. Do we have to drink IN the bar? Can we take a beer into the movie? Is this real? We were told we didn’t HAVE to drink in the bar. We could take a drink into the movie, in fact, would we like a bucket of beer?
I was beside myself! HOW FUN! We ordered our bucket of beer. Jayda got her Popcorn and Slushy, and we headed into the “Incredibles 2”
We find our reserved seats. The rows were spaced out in such a way that I didn’t feel like people were on top of me. I didn’t feel like a sardine in a can of 100 sardines.
In the South, in the summer, it’s not always great to be sitting really close to a lot of people. We have people come to our Vacationland from all over the world. Not everyone has the same opinion on deodorant and body odor. And just to stop you before you think it’s this or that type of person…they are ALL walks, all ages, and all economic statures. I don’t know. Maybe “Stinky” is in vogue . I’ve never been on top of the trends. Cameron Diaz, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp, Julia Roberts, Kristen Stewart, Matthew McConaughey…Just an example of Famous NON-Showering stinky people.
This is a trend I’ll avoid like the plague, however! Again, I digress…
So, the seating. The Seating Reclines! WHAT???? So here we are, the three of us, Reclined back, feet up, Drink/Snacks and a Bucket of Beer. Jayda chose to not partake in the beer bucket. She had a few reasons. She thinks beer is gross, she prefers cherry slushys, she is extreemly underage, and we wouldnt let her even if she didn’t think beer is gross. #responsible_parenting #Wait_another_9_kid #Istillthinkbeerisgross #I’m_An_Adult_soIDrinkItAnyway
We enjoyed the movie emensly! How would we not? It’s “The Incredilbes2” I mean, come on! We had to bring our Hoodies into the theater because, I believe, they have the AC set at 70F. This is a bit chilly when you are dressed for 90+ and 99% Humidity. But, again, it was a good thing (stinky people)
So if you are finding yourself in Hilton Head on Vaca, or any other part of the Low Country or Coastal Empire, and you want to catch a movie, or maybe it’s a rainy day…This is a fun experience and 2nd only to watching in your own home!
We will DEFINATLY be back to NorthRidge Movie theater. It was such a fun Saturday!

You know you’re doing “ok” when none of your underwear have holes in them and most of them are “the good kind”
Every morning I wake to a song playing on loop. Rarely is there a legit reason for this song. Inexplicably, at times, it’s not even a song I like. Sometimes it’s a song I loath. There are times when it’s a song from decades before I was born, or it can be the latest they play on an XM channel. I can’t bring myself to believe I’m the only one with this. This radio station in my soul.

THE CATS PAJAMAS!

Facts about Pet Ownership in the U.S.: It’s estimated that 78 million dogs and 85.8 million cats are owned in the United States. Approximately 44% of all households in the United States have a dog, and 35% have a cat. Approximately 40% of dog owners and 46% of cat owners learned about their pet through word of mouth.
We, like 35% of the population, have a cat. She is a great cat. She is a Modern Siamese. (This means she is one of the weird looking ones) She was the Runt of the litter. We weren’t suppose to have the runt of the litter, but the breeder (who shall remain nameless) accidently put the wrong kitten in the carrier. We did not know this for 3 days. Then we were advised it “was in our best interest to keep our mouths shut”.
Thats how it started.
The “Runt” of the litter had been prenamed “Baby”. She had a few medical problems and had to be fed through a dropper. She also had something wrong with one of her eyes. Aparently she was the first kitten that this breeder was able to succesffuly keep alive through feeding through a dropper. (She wouldn’t nurse…that is why she had to be fed through a dropper) So “Baby” lived, the vet signed off on the eye problem and she was meant to go to a different home. A home who “Signed up” for the Runt AKA Baby.
Within the first week, or maybe two, “Baby” who will now be refered to as “Spirit” found a Bee, Ant, or Spider (inside our house) to bite her paw. Now we didn’t SEE this happen. And we don’t and won’t let her outside. So, this weird thing happened in our house. Now, of course, I didn’t KNOW she was biten by a bug. But her Paw swelled up to twice the size of the other paws. I rush her to the Emergency vet, they check her for ALL sorts of things, because again, I couldn’t tell them what happened. I didnt see a bug bite her. They took xrays, they did blood samples, and IV and findally figured out what it was and what it wasnt. Sent us home, and she survived it.
It wasn’t really life threatening for her to begin with, but being so small, so young, and having found out she was the “Sickly Runt” I was beside myself with worry!
Flash forward to New Years Eve. We had some friends over and were playing games when Spirit let us know, in NO uncertain terms, that she was in Heat! She was either VERY proud of this or VERY much freaking out herself. But it was LOUD and Ludacris. Our house has Hard wood floors and high ceilings, so it is VERY echo’y!
Why didn’t I have her Spayed before this? Because she was So Small Still. Not Like my past Modern Siamese. He was tall and lanky and had substance. This line, however, is very very petite, in my opinion. So I waited until I was forced. So the next day or so I called and scheduled for when she was out of heat to have her Spayed. Easy Squeesy!
Except when she was Spayed, they just gave me a Cone of Shame and told me not to let her Lick her stitches! Um…ok, but how am I goiing to keep the Cone of Shame on her??? She’s a Modern Siamese. 20+ years ago, in some parts of the country they were called Wedge Heads. There was NO way she was going to keep that Cone on.
I start complaining about this on Facebook, and I can’t remember exactly if a FB Friend suggested the PJs or if I found them through scrolling other options Facebook Friends were suggesting. Either way, I found the Cats Pajamas!
I ordered the Suitical Recovery Suit ASAP. They were a LIFE SAVER! They were much like an infant onsie. They have Snaps that go behind the back legs. Kind of like Crotchless Panties. Crude, I know. AND YES, I’m aware of all the possibilities with jokes! I’ve heard some of them, made some of them, and can only imagine the ones that could still be made up. But Spirit has to be able to “Go pee” or “Poo” and these snaps allow that.
So the Cats Pajamas allowed her to heal, eat and drink normally, and go to the bathroom, without the ability to mess wth her stitches.
But wait, theres more!!!
Spirit is a very engaging cat. We call her “Not a cat” because she is not aloof, or bored. She’s not Stuffy and Condescending. She’s more Dog like, actually, with her need to be with us. Play with us. Sit with us. Be involved in what we are doing. And she is very very affectionate, in her own way. Problem is, her way is “love bites”.
Yup, “Love Bites”
In Spirits world, she is giving affectionate kisses. And during the day, we don’t have a problem with this. However, she decided that she needed to do this during Sleepy Time! When I’m Sound Asleep and she bites the back of my knee, or my Belly…I don’t care that she thinks she is being affectionate! It startles me and wakes me up!
This was becoming a problem. Everyone thought it was funny! Heck, I thought it was funny, when it wasn’t happening. But I was loosing sleep. Then I remembered how calm she was when she wore her Pajamas aka Suitical Recovery Suit. So I put her Pajamas back on at bedtime, one night, to see if she would calm down and NOT decide I needed love bites.
It worked! On My HONOR! I have been putting Pajamas aka Suitical Recovery Suit on the cat ever since. She doesn’t fight me. I have owned a cat that this would have been an impossibility with. Trust me, If you’re reading this thinking “No way could I put pajamas on my cat” I totally understand. Some cats do NOT have the temperment for this.
But if you have a cat who has had surgery, or is “Wild” at night, or nervous in different circumstances like: Thunder, 4th of July, Family with children visiting…I would suggest the Suitical Recovery Suit for Cats Camo . It really has helped us.

I have written a blog post that is nearly done. It’s about Pajamas we bought for our cat “Spirit” and I have the worst brain fog right now! I’m sure I’m dehydrated and slightly anemic. I am the worst at staying hydrated. Dehydration causes a lot more problems than most people realize
